Be a Tony’s Gang Pen Pal - Parental Permission

Tony’s Gang is a national organization that provides friendship and support to children across the country who battle cancer or other serious illnesses.

Tony’s Gang Pen Pal program is an effort to link these children with other children across the country who share common interests and experiences. Getting a letter from a special new friend always brightens a child’s day.

Our pen pal exchange is closely supervised and coordinated through professional social workers and hospital staff. Even so, it is not necessary to use last names or addresses when your child sends Tony’s Gang a letter for our special friends. But, when the children share addresses, we do encourage the children who receive the letters to write back to their pen pals.

We use every mechanism at our disposal to ensure safety. The return address information that you provide will not be used for other purposes or released. So, if your child would like an answer to their letters, please allow them to include their name and address.

Parents, if you have no objection to your child including address information in their letter, please print this page, sign below and enclose this permission slip with your child’s letter.

You should be aware that many of the children are often too ill to regularly correspond. Even if your child does not receive a letter back, they may continue to send letters to children this summer through Tony’s Gang. We will ensure that your child’s letters are sent to one of our special friends who needs a gesture of friendship throughout the summer.
